NAZ Jam was held on the 4th of May 2013 at a resort in Hartbeesport. It was a BMX comp followed by a massive bonfire that lasted well into the night.
Heres a few pictures from the event.
I have been spending a bit of time in and around Port Elizabeth, running around on a mission but not to shoot anything of artistic importance. During one of the rugby matches, I jumped at the opportunity to escape and shoot a few pics of the local fishermen.
What originally captured my attention was the way the same fisherman always sat by the lake every day and I found myself wondering how he was able to spend so much time by the dam. After chatting to the fisherman for a while, I took a couple of shots of his daughter as she played with various bottles and bowls. I got the first image almost as soon as I took out my camera … the little girl posing with a photograph from when she was only a couple of weeks old. I liked the way it leant a sense of authenticity to the shot. Whilst she was desperately shy towards me, I am more than happy with the couple of cool pictures I got of her. It’s easy to see why the fisherman just could not compete with shy innocence of his daughter.

WE ARE ONE festival was held in Jo’Burg on 6th April, at Emmarentia dam.
What. A. Mess.
That is all I could think walking through the “no powder zone”, it was at this point I had realised that I may have actually lost my marbles taking my camera into such a dirty environment. I wasn’t even in the crowd yet and things had already started to get colourful.I broke the cardinal rule; protect your really expensive camera at all costs, by leaving my protective gear at home! Luckily, a friend of mine came to the rescue and after a hasty camera wrapping ceremony I was ready to take on the festival of colour. My DIY protective plastic cover was enveloped in duct tape which meant the review screen was not going to help much.. No monkeys here! It wasn’t long before the first powder throw countdown (since my arrival), this happened on the hour, every hour. I took my chances standing quite deep in the crowd near the front, not too sure what expect. I don’t think much could have prepared me for my first powder throw.

PH PHAT is an electronic rap band from Cape Town. They played a hot n’steamy show at Arcade Empire in Pretoria on Thursday 28th March. These guys always put on a great show, and this was no exception. The Jagermeister flowed, as did the beats. Things got wild in the crowd as well as on stage with a chipped tooth and a couple of sweaty brows. Check out what you missed & enjoy the snaps.

When I sat my final days of high school, crunched up scribbling away in art class listening to Rise against, or when I first ever heard Chelsea Smile by Bring Me The Horizon and played it as loud as possible everyday in my car on my way to my crappy desk job. I could never have imagined that a few years later I would get such an amazing opportunity to shoot them, live!
This was one of the greatest weekends of my life as both bands have played a massive part in my life and an even bigger role in my development as a creative person. I will never forget the enormous opportunity I have had to shoot them.
Ramfest is an annual two-day music festival held at Riversands farm in Fourways.
This years event happened on 15 + 16th March 2013. I decided to try something different and get out of the “super shallow, low light” boat. Sticking to shutter speeds between 60th + 80th of a second, and trying to keep my aperture stopped down a few steps from 2.8 I managed to suck a lot of the natural light right up, with the light came some movement. and a new lesson learned. Sometimes It’s good to do things, just for kicks.
They say the best photographs happen when you have fun, with Bands and DJ’s like Double Adapter, Jack Parrow, Bring Me The Horizon and Rise Against. How could I not have had fun?
These are some of the photos I got, hope you Enjoy.

These are some locally produced and hand-made climbing holds that I was asked to photograph.
This was one of the first batches they produced. The factory is based in Pretoria, and grips are available directly to the public. There are always new designs and strange concepts bubbling out of the Resin8 Lab, most of which are designed to create the perfect balance between comfort and the desired amount of grip.
