This is the red moon over joburg, South Africa tonight… Not the most creative shot, But cool non the less

The Moon looks reddish when low on the horizon. This is due to the scattering of light in the atmosphere, the same reason why the setting sun looks red. In the atmosphere, blue and green parts of the spectrum are scattered more strongly than the red and yellow.

Air pollution (dust, smoke, aerosols) also contribute to the red colouration, again due to the scattering of light. (wikipedia)
